Business Studies

A qualification in Business is useful to those who wish to pursue careers in marketing, PR, finance or HR in the future.

Key Stage 4

GCSE Business Studies is an optional subject in which students have the opportunity to gain real, practical experiences by setting up of their own enterprise in Year 10. This allows learners to experience what it is like to be an entrepreneur and both the risks and rewards which accompany this.

Currently our Year 11 students complete two exams and a controlled assessment during their studies on the following topics:

  • Setting up a business
  • Growing a business
  • Investigating business

In Year 10 our students complete two exams on the following topics:

  • Investigating a small business
  • Building a business

Throughout both year 10 and 11 GCSE Business studies students will be encouraged to develop their independent learning skills, build arguments based on facts and research, evaluate evidence and appreciate the varying perspectives of different stakeholders in the world of business.
