Absence & Attendance

Good attendance at school is one of the most important factors in ensuring that children and young people have the maximum life chances. The more time a child spends around other children, whether in the classroom or part of a school team or club, the more chance they have of making friends and feeling included, boosting social skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Attendance is strongly linked to educational achievement. Children who miss school frequently can fall behind with their work and do less well in exams.

The school works closely with the Early Intervention team on attendance matters and data on attendance is analysed each week. If your child is not in school you need to ring our attendance team on the morning of each day of absence so that we can account for your child. 01942 814122 – press 1 for attendance.

We discourage term time holidays as children get behind when they miss out on lessons. Your child should arrive in school every day by 8.45 am when students are registered by form tutors. Remember: Every Day Matters!

Take a look at our booklet What is good Attendance’ for information about attendance in school.
