There has been a secondary school on this site for eight decades. Though the original buildings remain, a number of others have been added over the years to accommodate more students and a wider curriculum.

The most recent physical addition was E Block which opened in 2002; however, there has been a significant investment in improving facilities for students in recent years. Many rooms in our five buildings are now equipped with digital projectors and interactive whiteboards. As a school we actively invest in technology to promote learning.

Our emphasis has been on refurbishment and redesign and students have recognised how the learning environment has significantly improved – in the summer of 2013 the school’s dining facilities were revamped and a new learning resource centre opened.

Tented social areas have been developed for students to enjoy around the site and outdoor table tennis tables are available at break and lunchtimes. New flooring, lighting and windows all help to create a light and airy learning environment and a pleasant place for everyone to enjoy.

Our latest project has been to replace the tiered seating in the Arts Theatre, so that the hundreds of people who enjoy our school’s drama and music performances each year will be able to sit more comfortably in our air-conditioned performance arena. This work was completed in the autumn term in 2013.

The school site adjoins the local leisure centre and as such our students enjoy access to a range of high quality sporting facilities such as a gym, squash courts and a swimming pool. This centre has recently been improved and new changing rooms have been added.
